Facility and Process Equipment Maintenance Specialist – Life Sciences Manufacturing

The purpose of this position is to assist with facility, manufacturing and R&D process equipment installation, commissioning and preventive maintenance. This hands-on position will require working knowledge of refrigeration systems as well as various types of process manufacturing equipment used in Argonaut’s Life Sciences manufacturing areas. We are looking for an energetic, knowledgeable problem solver who can support the facility and manufacturing team. Strong time management and organization skills along with interpersonal skills are needed for this exciting new opportunity.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Schedule and perform routine preventive maintenance of refrigeration systems, including HVAC, temperature-controlled storage units (2-8degC, -15 to -25degC and -70 to -80degC), upright, walk-in refrigeration units and lyophilizers
  • Schedule and oversee third-party facility maintenance contractors
  • Conduct facilities work requests for internal customers
  • Responsible for ordering and maintaining spare parts inventory and repairing parts, as required
  • Assist with the install and assembly of process equipment in cleanrooms and laboratories
  • Assist with ensuring that Argonaut facilities are fully operational with all utilities functioning properly by conducting daily tours and verification of operation

Position Requirements and Experience

The desired candidate will have:

    • High School diploma or equivalent and 2+ years of experience in industrial environment/pharmaceutical/maintenance setting or 3 to 5+ years of relevant experience
    • Refrigeration systems knowledge
    • Proficiency with electrical/mechanical test and service equipment and tools
    • Excellent understanding and application of safety procedures
    • Ability to read electrical, pneumatic and mechanical plans for equipment
    • Maintain accurate and organized records
    • Attention to detail and disciplined in execution
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with cross functional teams under strict timelines
    • Excellent problem solving / troubleshooting skills
    • Quality system compliance while working in a cGMP and ISO 13485 production environment
    • Strong initiative and willingness to take ownership and drive projects to completion
    • Interest, ability, and willingness to work in the cleanroom areas for extended periods of time
    • Ability to work independently and in a team-based environment effectively
    • Manage equipment downtime by working with manufacturing personnel to schedule routine preventive maintenance
    • Basic computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and preventive maintenance software
    • Must be able to work off hours when needed and be on-call


Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

  • Must be capable of performing duties of the position which includes bending at the waist, kneeling, climbing, walking, and crouching
  • Work involves consistent exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, biohazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises
  • Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions
  • Involves movement between departments, floors, and (4) building locations to facilitate work
